We represent people. Human beings. Funky homo sapiens.
We’re what you call “plainitffs lawyers.” Some people call us trial lawyers. Some people—OK, a lot of people—don’t like us.
They’ve heard about the McDonalds coffee case or the fake lawsuit about the RV that crashed without a driver. Or some other stupid lawsuit.
They make fun of us. We’re the butt of jokes. Sometimes—OK, a lot of times—we deserve it.
Haha.
But, deep down, underneath it all, they don’t like us because, with our help, our clients can be just as powerful as they are.
We all make mistakes. It’s part of life. We grow and learn when we recognize we’ve done something wrong and work to make it right. It’s why we have insurance. We quickly take responsibility and pay for all the damage we cause.
But sometimes, people do something wrong and try to avoid it. They try to get out of taking responibility and fixing the damage they cause. They blame the victim. Or try to make a quick buck by taking advantage of someone. Or their insurance company tries to save a few bucks by denying responsibility or delaying payment.
This is called injustice. And we don’t like it—at all.
There are a lot of lawyers in Texas. Some good ones too.
We are proud to work alongside them. We were trained by some of the best and owe our practices to their willingness to teach us the craft.
That said, all lawyers are different. We each have our own philosophies and styles.
We try to be open, light, humorous, humble, and honest. If we say it, we do it. If we’re wrong, we admit it. We have fun and don’t take ourselves too seriously.
When our clients are happy, we’re happy. When we’re happy, our clients are happy. We think that simple outlook will solve 99 percent of our (and our clients’) problems.
As GSD&M founder Roy Spence says, we “think big but act small.”
If you think this philosophy jives with you, please give us a call. We think you’ll like working with us. If not, then please call one of our many friends around town (not the guys on TV or the billboards) who will also do a great job with your case.
Lawyers are required to keep clients "reasonably informed" about their case. What this usually means is one of the lawyer's paralegals or staff calls or emails the client every once in a while to check in.
We take it a step further—or maybe 10 steps further—by giving you access to our entire online case management system. You see everything we see—every task, comment, due date, update—good or bad.
Our clients are the most valuable members of our case team and we think you should know what's going on in your case as soon as it happens. It's just one more way we're a little different.
We're sure you have lots of questions, like: How does it work? How much does it cost? How long with this all take? Luckily, we've thought of the most common questions we get and answered them here.
